Something wants my address book!

Help.

I have...something.  Each time I go to send a new email or to reply to an email, I get a warning with the following message:

A program is trying to access email addresses you have stored in Outlook.  Do you want to allow this?

If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should check no.

It also contains a checkbox which, if selected, will let me "this program" access for 1 to 10 minutes.  Needless to say, I always say no.

However, I would like to get rid of this.  In addition, my email freezess up often, forcing me to shut down and reboot in order to send the emial.

In addition, everything has been s-l-o-w, both online and offline.

Not that much wrong with your log, but I may not be seeing everything
Can you update your version of Hijackthis

Open Hijackthis>>Config>>Misc Tools>>Check for updates online
If for some reason it won't update, redownload Hijackthis 1.98.2
from HERE or HERE
Save it to your
C:\Documents and Settings\Mr Riley\My Documents\HijackThis folder
allowing it to overwrite the old version

Post back with a log from this version

I have found others with your error message for outlook
I can supply links to possibly help you out once we get your log clean

You have one entry that needs removed with hijackthis

Do another scan with hijackthis and put a check next to this entry

After you have ticked the above entry, close down all other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
Yes to the prompt and exit hijackthis

Restart your computer

I've never use Advanced System Optimizer, so I don't know if it's doing any good or harm on your system
It sounds like a good program, but like I said, I've never used it

When did the system slowdowns start happening
I also notice you have the Google Toolbar and PanicWares Popup Stopper
Do you feel the need to use both?
google toolbar has a built in pop up blocker

When was the last time you did a Disk Defragment on your system

When was the last time you cleaned up your temp folders, does ASO do this for you?

You have some optional fixes that are not needed on startup, if you would like to try shutting some of them down let me know

Your error message in Outlook

Can you try this registry change for Adobe Acrobat and let me know what happens

Good luck trying to find this fix on the web.  On the PC's that I've worked on with this issue they are running Word as the email editor and Adobe Acrobat is installed as well.  What you have to do is suppress Adobe from opening in Word within Outlook.  To accomplish this go into the registry...Start-->Run and type regedit.  Expand Hkey Local Machine\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins....here you will see your Addins and if Adobe is in here (PDFMOutlook.PDFMOutlook) click on the Addin and in the left pane double-click on Load Behavior and change the setting from 3 to a 0.  This should fix the issue.
