My IE has been hijacked, my default home page always returns to
onlygoodsearch.com.....

I've downloaded Hijack This v1.99 and the log file is below.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First off, I see you have Spybot installed
Could you also
Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
Ensure you have this version, or the Professional series
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
Don't run a scan yet

Download and save to desktop the Standalone version of CWShredder.exe

Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Access your Add/Remove Programs and Remove if Found
SideStep
Viewpoint Manager

Please Print the rest of this out or save it to a Notepad file on your desktop
Please Disconnect from the Internet and

Restart your computer into SAFE MODE

Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc Tools>>Open Process manager and Kill this process if still running

Find and delete these files or folders if they exist

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
YES and exit Hijackthis

Again in safe mode, Open Up Ad-Aware
Perform a Full system scan
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

Next: Open up CWShredder and Click the FIX button, allow it to Fix all problems

Restart your computer back to Normal Mode
Don't open a browser yet, instead access Internet Options via Control Panel
Under the Programs tab "Reset Web Settings"
Under the General tab---Reset home page

Post back with a fresh Hijackthis log afterwards

In the Hijack This Process Manager, I wasn't allowed to stop the winlogon.exe process though.

When I got to the point where I ran another scan in Hijack This, most of the entries you had told me to check and Fix weren't there anymore.  I fixed the two that were part of the new scan list.

It's a good program if it's the latest version and kept up to date

Stay in normal mode
Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [xp_system] C:\WINDOWS\inetm\winlogon.exe

O16 - DPF: {DBA230D1-8467-4e69-987E-5FAE815A3B45} -

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
YES and exit Hijackthis

RESTART your computer

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks

IE-Spyad, if you just need protection for a single user on the machine
Download IE-SPYAD.exe
For Global protection, to include all users on the machine
Download IE-SPYAD2.exe
You only need one or the other

Keep the link to IE-Spyad bookmarked so you can check for updates
