Can't open taskmanager
« on: January 22, 2005, 09:17:30 AM »
This is my first time in a forum, so I hope I'm doing this the right way.

My computer was working perfectly fine until a few nights ago.  One morning I turned it on as always, but none of the programs worked.  The message given was "Insufficient system resources...".  When I tried to open some windows they came out without the words.  I could see the buttons, but no words on them.

When I tried to open Taskmanager it said: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000012d).  Click on OK to terminate the application."

Trying to open Control Panel said: "rundll32.exe Not enough quota is available to process this command".  Same with other programs.

At another time I got the dark blue screen of winXP that shuts down windows to prevent damage to the computer because of a "Bad_pool_caller" but I didn't have enough time to copy all the numbers. I only got : Stop: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007

Iwas able to run a Norton av scan, but it didn't detect any viruses.  Could this be some kind of worm infection?

The only way I can make some programs work is running in safe mode.

Can you run a Hijackthis log?

Try download Hijackthis from my signature below

Save it to a permanent folder, NOT the temp folder
Run a scan and save log

Post the whole contents of the log back here
