Hi onyx_jem
Let's try some cleanup on your machine

Access your add/remove programs via Control Panel and uninstall if found
Dashbar

Restart your computer if anything found and removed

On restart go back to Add/Remove Programs and remove
GAIN if found

Again restart if removed

Back in Windows

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
Ensure you have this version or the paid version
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
When you Install Ad-Aware it may Update and start running a scan

Perform a Full system scan
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

RESTART your computer again to finish the cleaning process

Post back with a fresh hijackthis log afterwards

Hmmm, let's see what going on

Can you
Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:
I'm going to ask you to remove red.clientapps>>related to RedSheriff spyware

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
YES and exit Hijackthis

RESTART your computer
Task bar back?

Back in Windows

Download and save to desktop
VX2 Finder.exe
Open the program and "Click to find VX2.BetterInternet"
Make a log and post it, thanks
This may not find anything, but I may need it for different reasons

Can you try something for me

Restart your computer into SAFE MODE

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del a few times

When restarting tap the F8 key as the system is booting up
Select Safe mode and hit Enter
At a prompt click OK

Let it completely restart into Safe mode

After that do the Ctrl+Alt+Del and Restart back to Normal mode

Does the Task bar show up?

If not we'll try something else
Also if you put your mouse to the bottom of the screen does the cursor change to a double arrow, you have to be right close to the bottom?
