Earlier today, while I was using my kid's computer, I noticed that Norton Antivirus was no longer running. Upon further investigation, it looked like NAV had either been disabled or partially unistalled. I unistalled it tried to reinstall it, but could not do so. Looking into the matter further, it appears that the computer has been disabled by some type of virus/trojan. I cannot run "msconfig", I cannot bring up the task manager with ctrl-alt-delete, I cannot connect to the Internet. I ran a 3rd party task manager program and I see suspect programs running such as "volumecontrol.exe" and "texteditor.exe", but I cannot shut them down (they just restart). I couldn't even run HijackThis on the computer until I restarted it in Safe Mode. I was finally able to run a scan, save it to a floppy disk and take it to another computer to post on this forum. Not sure what to do at this point (besides throw the whole dang thing out the window). Hoping some intelligent, experienced person can help me out here. Here's my scan, which again I could only run in Safe Mode.
