Delete partition from Win dual boot system
« on: August 26, 2001, 08:21:34 AM »
OK here we go... From a dual boot system (Win98 & Win2k) i want to delete the Win98 partition. Now, I have Win98 installed on the first partion and Win2k installed on the second. That is, I only want to have Win2k installed on my system. Any advice on how to do this safely:)

Will Partition Magic do the job in this case?

After deleting the Win98 partition I want to convert the previous filesystem in the Win98 partion to NTFS. Any advice on how to do this?

Finally, when only having Win2k on my sytem I want to upgrade it to XP, when I get my hands on XP. Would there be any problems in doing this? Would I need the Pro Edition of XP to be able to upgrade to XP?

Thanks in advance

To be honnest fresh install of win 2k.
Format the partitions and re-install Win2k with the NTFS.

Trying to it anyother way might work but to have peice of mind Fresh install is the best way forward for the future.

Mabey Ghost the images for back up purposes.
Partition Magic will help you expand the primary partition for the extra space you might want. Hope it helps.
No advice with XP issue sorry ?

Thanks for your advice. This is a nice place to visit http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

I think I will follow your advice - also my system makes random crashes and reboots now and then, and definitely needs a reinstall anyways.

I\'ve been reading some stuff on my posted subject on these pages:

I thought you might be interested.
