I am having a recurring problem with my PC. The problem described below first occured when the PC was under warranty and the store advised that it was a mechanical fault with the hard disk. They said "the hard disk was unable to spin at constant RPM leading to system instability". They replaced the hard disk (about 4 months ago) but now the EXACT same problem is happening again. Would appreciate any views on this?
Problem:
(1) When the problem first occured, I would be using the PC, then all of a sudden it would just restart without any warning. It was as if someone had pressed the “reset” button. There were no error messages or anything like that.
(2) This would occur from time to time during use. Initially, after re-starting the PC would boot as normal, and then would function normally for a period of time (ranging from a few hours to a few days)
(3) After about a month of being able to re-boot and continue use, the problem is now worse in that the PC has problems actually re-starting again:
You know when you first start a PC, and you hear the disk spin up? Nowadays when the PC starts up, the disk seem to have trouble spinning. If you can imagine what a car engine starved of fuel is like? It kind of starts up, falters, stalls, try to start again etc.
Some times it successfully gets past this and boots, other times not. Usually I have to switch it off and wait a while then try again.
thanks in advance
