Problems With Editing/Changing XP's Bootscreen
« on: September 23, 2005, 06:44:57 AM »
I downloaded a tutorial by  Barret and OpenFriday on creating a new boot screen for windows XP replacing the original one by editing the file "ntoskrnl32.exe".  I followed completely but my screen will not load.  I used Adobe Photoshop CS to edit the images, also, i reconverted them back to indexed color after i was finished.  It did not work.  I think the reason may be that the color palette is only able to run 8 bit vga graphics or something.. i have since replaced my edited bootscreen thta didnt work with the original XP one which i backed up.  Is there perhaps an update to the tutorial i originally used?  Basically, what am i doing wrong?

thx in advance for any replies http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
