Here's my situation. Please help me out...
« on: October 03, 2005, 03:41:38 PM »
I've got access to plenty of OEM (Dell) Windows XP Pro (pre-SP1, SP1 and SP2). I have access to several OEM serial numbers as well. I tried installing an OEM version and using an OEM key but it took but said it was invalid when I tried to activate it. I have no retail or corporate keys that I know to work. I tried changing my OEM to a Retail, but it wouldn't take any of my keys.

What's my best bet in getting a fuctioning, activated copy of Windows XP (much be SP1 or greater, as I have a 200 GB hard drive)?

I understand I can change my OEM to Volume Licensing, but does that require more than the setupp.ini file to be changed?

Thanks for the help!

Windows does blow

But anyways, you cannot use a key more than once...once activated...its done.

The OEM dell cds you're talking about is the product cds right? The ones you pop in to restore the system? Well, those cannot be used with anything but a genuine dell pc that it was made for...they key only works for those cds.

Try ebay if you need a cheap XP Home/Pro OEM license. I know they have great deals on OEM software.

Yeah, I feel like I'll end up with another Dell cd if I buy from eBAY. I'm thinking I might just call Microsoft, tell them I have a Dell Windows XP that I'm trying to install on a new system and it won't let me. I've heard if you tell them you own the original machine (which I'll have no problem proving that I do) they'll give you a new code.

It is ironic how mostly everyone says that windows blows yet they spend an endless amount of time researching how to crack windows probably using a windows system while they type in this forum.
Solution is simple. If you hate Windows don't use. If Windows sucks don't use it. Feel free to use Linux or a Mac.

Yes Windows is like wood being eaten by termites but like everything, you must take care of it. Keep it maintained. Keep service packs up to date. Run software like Window Washer. Run anti spyware. Have a great anti virus. Clean the registry and prey you don't fall victim of  windows impulsive behaviors. I Know it is a hassle but I guess it is worth while if mostly everyone is using windows with the exeption of some really techie or wanna be techie.

Microsft has the best products though. Can you really name a word processor better than Microsoft Word? I have looked and only have found cheap nothing but talk imitators.

Let's compare Frontpage Vs. DreamWeaver.  I would say DreamWeaver would be a better choice because the code is cleaner.

BUT Frontpage is so easy to use and is really powerful! I consider it to be a 1000 times easier to use! It is better for the average Joe.

And is there anything better than excel?

Why are Microsoft products a leading Standard?
Most jobs require  you to know Microsoft products!

Like people who use Email Removed I hate AOL then why are you using it, when you have so many options like: Bellsouth or Comcast or Prodigy or Blue Light or Netzero etc. This is truely confusing.

If someone can tell me why they are using Windows when they really hate it let me know and I know price is not an issue because Linux is free.

WHOA WHOA WHOA, easy there, buddy. I'm just kidding.

I don't think Windows blows. It's just a joke. It was the first thing that came to my head when putting in a name to make this thread.

Haha, yikes.

Try looking here:
www.keygen.us

Be sure to have your anti virus up to date. You know these type of sites usuall have viruses. But if you are protected well you might be able to get what  you need safely and silently.
If I remember correctly there was windows activation things there.

Nothing is Free but Death, Pain and Suffering.
Why would you possibly think that we would think it's a scam?

Keep your OEM key and just skip the activation.  Works for mine.
