W2K startup problem
« on: July 02, 2002, 09:27:17 PM »
I have a dual Athlon running Windows 2000 Pro, with an nVidia geForce 3 ti200 graphics card.  On boot up, the system frequently (irregular, but once every 5 times or so) will get up to the point where the screen blanks momentarily as it switches to the selected video standard, and then either hang with a black screen or restart.  I have installed the latest drivers for the video card.  I see no relevant info in the event logs.

Is there a way to monitor the startup process more closely to figure out what is going on?

Thanks in advance...

Have you tried updating the BIOS on the motherboard?

this sound like you are running a multi-mon system here correct?

try changing your primary video card on the system.

also right-click my computer properties advanced, startup and recovery, and uncheck the auto reboot and change it to a kernal memory dump, this will allow for you to do more reaserch if you are getting a blue screen of death.
