Please do the following

Download L2mfix from here

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT:  Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Follow the instructions posted http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php/topic/22942-please-read-how-to-post-logs-from-frst/\'>Click Here

Er, here's the log, but you should probably know some background information as well. All my logs are from safe mode, because when it starts on regular it runs the program "project1", and even when I stop it the computer usually shuts down in minutes. I'm pretty much using a different computer to use the forum, and transferring logs and stuff by floppy.

L2MFIX find log 1.04a

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread.

IMPORTANT:  Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

NOTE:After restart and L2MFIX finishes scanning for files>>give this time to finish
If a text doesn't open, run the "second.bat" located inside the L2mfix folder

Also post a fresh hijackthis log

I used the "second.bat" thing because the otehr didn't seem to work (the icons+deastop didn't even disappear), and I even tried in on safe mode and non-safe mode...

but that didn't look like it work either. Something came up saying it "killed" two programs, and the icons and taskbar disappeared, but it did nothing after waiting several minutes. And that was on normal mode.

What is supposed to happen? Can you explain a little more?

I'm not sure if you waited long enough after the system restarted

It sounds like the tool ran okay, but you didn't quite wait long enough for notepad to open

Can you post a fresh hijackthis log in normal mode please

Let's try a different approach

Download FindQoologic.zip and UNZIP it to your C:/ directory
Double click on Find-Qoologic.bat
Wait till a text file opens and post the contents back here

Also,
Download TrackQoo.zip
UNZIP it to your Desktop

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If your Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Window asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!
Wait a few seconds and copy and paste the contents of the notepad file that opens

Let's get a few tools to help with your problems and then we'll deal with what's leftover after
I'm going to try an old fix in combination with newer scanners to see what we can clean

Please do the following

==Download and UNZIP to desktop Fix.zip
So you now have Fix.reg extracted to desktop
We'll need this later

==Download and Install this small program
to help clean your temp folders, cookies, etc...
Windows Cleanup! 4.0
Don't run this yet, we'll need it in a bit
Alternate download location if having trouble with the first link

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06
Ensure you have this latest version
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
When installing, Ad-Aware may prompt to update, Allow it but don't run a scan yet
After Ad-aware had been installed and updated I need you to do the following
Follow the link to download and install
VX2 Cleaner Plug-in.
After the plugin is installed
Close out Ad-Aware

==Download and then Install
Ewido Security Suite

When installing, under "Additional Options" Uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link after you have Ewido installed
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/

Download miekiemoes' LQfix batch here:
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiem...tools/LQfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

==Download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.
* Save it to your desktop or a folder

"Please Save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop"
Disconnect from the Net

Run Killbox.exe
So you now have killbox open and the saved instructions too notepad open

In Killbox
At the main screen >> select the option: Replace on Reboot

Sorry for the wait! Also, I'm still getting popups, sp there's still somethinging there (though it doesn't say project1 is running, and it hasn't shut itself down yet...) And, is it bad that my desktop looks like classic windows? Like, I have XP, but it looks like 98 with the rectangular stuff... I'm hoping I can just change that back in settings, and it isn't permanent? Thanks.

...Oh, bad, I just checked, and classic stle is the only option now. Could the XP style have gotten deleted, do you know how to get it again?

Wow, it's been awhile since you last posted, I'll have to get caught up on what we have done
One infection you have can be stubborn

Can you do the following please
Please download Webroot's SpySweeper

* Click the Free Trial link under to "SpySweeper" to download the program.
* Install it.
* Once the program is installed, it will open.
* It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
* Make sure the definitions are right up to date
Once the definitions are updated

Please print the rest of these instructions or save them too notepad for reference
Disconnect from the Internet completely, close down all unnecessary programs running in the background, including this Window

You didn't stop that service last time
Go to START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc
Hit OK
In the next window, look on the right hand side for this service
name---- Command Service

Double click on it--- STOP the service--If running
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled

Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section>>Open Process manager
Highlight and Kill this process if still running and found in the list
C:\WINDOWS\V2FkZQAA\command.exe

Go to START>>RUN>>Copy and paste the following line in bold into the Open field and then click OK

sc delete cmdService

Afterwards

Open SpySweeper
# Click Sweep Now
# Click the Start button.
# When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
# Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
# It will remove all of the items found.

Allow the computer to reboot or reboot NOW after you are finished with SpySweeper

Back in Windows
stay completely disconnected from the Internet

=====================================================
Run L2MFix again with these instructions
From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log

If the L2MFix doesn't run after the restart, then go into the L2M fix folder and double click on second.bat to run it.

Back in Windows, post a fresh hijackthis log and the log from L2MFix

NOTE: We'll worry about your Classic view after we get you clean

Woops, I almost forgot about you

Are you still getting popups?
Looks like we may of killed it

Are you able to switch to XP view?
Or are you still in Classic?

Can you do the following

Download Lunalook.zip from below and save it to your desktop
UNZIP the folder within to your desktop
Open the lunalook folder and double click on lunafind.bat
WAIT for a text file to open
Copy and paste the contents back here

Then double click on Find1.bat and post the contents too
