Chplaptops.. Scam?
« on: July 09, 2005, 08:05:38 PM »
I'm not sure if this site is a scam or not but some weird stuff definitely take place... First off they lost everyone's credit totals and decided to give everyone 20 creds.. What do they do if this happens again later down the road?  Then they send emails out to everyone showing everyone's email address to the 100 other people who were on the list.. Pretty amateur in my opinion. Some guy wrote back to chplaptops and chplaptops replied to him but mistakenly included 6o other addresses as well.  I received his complaint to them and their reply to him lol  What a joke!!  I guess privacy is thrown out the window.  I myself replied back to an email they sent me asking what was happening and if they were going to fix things up.. This is the reply I got:

Please, no longer use this emaill address when sending mail to CHPLaptops.com.  Use the contact system on the contact page.
As for your questions, please see our FAQ
Furthur use of this email address will result in account suspension for 30 days.

CHPLaptops.com Abuse Dept.

Threaten their customers??  Seems kind of weak to me.  I just responded to an address they emailed me with lol  As far as I'm concerned chplaptops is amateur night run by some kids who have no business savy.  I think down the road there are going to be a lot of angry people out there.  Just my opinion.

No members lost credits.  The story behind that is very long and detailed however we got all of our databases back from our old host.  This kind of thing will not happen again, we went out and got a dedicated server.

The Email thing, yeah that was my fault.  It was 4:30 AM when I sent it out, I had been working on bringing the site back up for 10 hours straight and had been awake for 21 hours. We sent out a message after the problem was fixed (to all members, but this time we put all of the addresses in the BCC field) To let everyone know not to email our temporary email address or spam the entire list.  Which a lot of people started doing.

Feel free to visit the site, and send any questions you have to us.

chplaptops.com is the biggest scam out there! They cheat you out of your money and your time! After reading all the newsletters and earning enough credits I never got my laptop! I've waited 3 months now and still nothing! They don't even bother to email me back! Stay away from chplaptops.com as they'll scam you too! If I were you I'd file a complaint with PayPal. I've already done this myself.

This uninformed person is thinking of the wrong site. He is thinking of EzLaptop which was a scam, and is no longer online. Even if he had joined CHPLaptops the day it went live, he could not have earned enough credits just reading newsletters to receive a new laptop 3 months ago. I joined the day it went live, and dont have enough credits for the laptop which requires the least number of credits.

agreed.   CHPlaptops hasnt been live LONG enough for anyone to get thier laptop yet.  im currently at 143 out of 300 or so credits to get the laptop that i want.

Id have to say this is easily one of the BETTER sites out there.  The guy Tim who runs the site , is always available on the site's message board to answer questions, and is very forthcoming about any changes or updates to the site.   Id have to say that its run very well so far.   Ill have to wait and see if i get a laptop out of it though.
