Free linux
« on: July 18, 2006, 09:52:44 AM »
Im looking for two things:

1.  A good but free linux that would be ideal for simple interternet browsing, Small time gaming, and ALOT of Music work.

2.  For my mixing on Widnows XP I use Fruity loops 6.0 producer edition.  The problem is what free alternatives will I have for linux (if any)?

I had mandrake a few years back but have since lost that computer, and now mandrake is no longer free.

Thanks ahead of time for the help  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

I did some research and found this:

My Webpagehttp://lmms.sourceforge.net/download.php

The question is, is it any good?

Also:  What would be better; Ark Linux, or Ubuntu?

I also heard that there is a windows runtime environment for linux... I was wondering if those are stable, and if it would support Fruity Loops?

How come you need a operating system for a beat maker and stuff? I use fruity loops (the free version), but im horrible at making beats, dont really know how to use it much I just do it for fun.

Also is there any forums or tutorials for fruity loops?

Edit: Just saw that it was fruity loops studio 6, im assuming thats the free version since I didnt pay for it.
