web nexus and popups

hello there im new here so i probably need alot of guidance or am redundant  have been tryin to get rid of the web nexus popups to no avail have used xsoftspy  adaware but they continue to persist, any help would be greatly appreciated thx jf

Can you do the following please

If you didn't pay for XoftSpy, it's not on the rogue list
But I will get you free tools that do a better job
I recommend you uninstall XoftSpy if you didn't pay for it

Additionally:
Can you also do the following please:
Download Trackqoo.zip
Save it to the Desktop
Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post

Also, Download Find-Qoologic.zip  and save it to your Desktop.
UNZIP the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic to the desktop

Open the FindQoologic folder.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
Choose option 1  for Run Findqoologic by typing 1 and pressing enter.
This will scan your system.
Wait until a text opens.

When installing, under "Additional Options" Uncheck
"Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".

From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link after you have Ewido installed

If your computer doesn't restart
RESTART manually, make sure to restart into Safe Mode
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Select Safe mode from the Startup menu

Access your add/remove programs via control panel
I suggest you remove the following if found, they are usually installed with other software
and not intentionally by the user
Viewpoint and WildTangent
There may be more than one entry of each in add/remove

==Run Cwshredder.exe
Click on the FIX button, let it run and fix whatever it finds
When it's done, stay in safe mode

==Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

    * Empty Recycle Bins
    * Delete Cookies
    * Delete Prefetch files
    * Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
When it's done, decline to log off or restart the computer

==Open Ewido anti-malware 3.5
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
  *1. Perform Action = Remove
  *2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
  *3. Perform action with all infections
 
  Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido
NOTE: When Ewido is running, don't open any other Windows

3. Again, Open the FindQoologic folder.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
Choose option 1 for Run Findqoologic by typing 1 and pressing enter.
This will scan your system.
Wait until a text opens.

Open Killbox.exe
In the killbox program, select the radio button
Delete on Reboot
Copy the path to the file name below in bold to the full path of file to delete

C:\WINDOWS\QVLBOL.DAT

Click the Red Circle with the White X
Click Yes to allow the file to delete on reboot, but don't reboot yet

Instead
Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u


After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer

Back in windows
Post a fresh hijackthis log
Additionally Again, Open the FindQoologic folder.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
Choose option 1 for Run Findqoologic by typing 1 and pressing enter.
This will scan your system.
Wait until a text opens.

Can you do the following please
Your versions of Spybot and Ad-Aware are terribly out of date

Access your Add/Remove programs via control panel
Remove first
adaware personal
Then remove
spybot 1.2

Reboot the computer

Back in windows
Download and Install
Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
Click START
Click the radio button to Perform a Full system scan then click NEXT
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

RESTART your computer to finish the cleaning process

Back in Windows
Download and Install Spybot 1.4 from
HERE
 or HERE

After installation--Click the UPDATE button on the left
SEARCH FOR UPDATES on the right
Check the boxes and then download all updates
After update is complete
Click the "Immunize" button on the left>>>OK at the prompt>>Immunzine at the top green cross
Click the "Search & Destroy" button on the left
"Check for Problems"---When the Scan is complete
FIX all selected promblems in RED

RESTART the computer if any Red entries were fixed

Come back here and let me know how things are running
Could you also post one last hijackthis log, you cut off the bottom part of your last log

This is probably Windows Security center alerting you
Security center monitors the following
Windows Auto Updates>>You appear to have this enabled
Anti-Virus>>Make sure your Anti-Virus software is right up to date
Firewall>>It may be warning that the XP firewall isn't enabled, is the firewall in NIS running properly?
Make sure it is


Then you can go to
Go to START>>Control Panel>>Security Center
On the left side you should be able to uncheck Firewall
or Click on the "Firewall" option, click on "Recommendations", and check off the option "I have a firewall solution that I'll monitor myself".
I haven't used NIS in years, is your version right up to date?
I have heard NIS can be somewhat of a resource hog, but as mentioned, I don't use it so I can't verify it
Many others swear by it and wouldn't be without it
It is all personal preference
If your subscription to NIS is overdue, I do have alternate free solutions

You will have to uninstall your version of NIS as it is out of date
But before you do it would be best if we do a final cleanup
And put the installers on your desktop for your new AV and Firewall
If you don't want to use the firewall built into XP

*If everything is running better
Final Cleanup
We should clear all your restore points to ensure you don't restore any nasties that may be sitting idle

Go to START>>RUN>>In the open field
Type in

msconfig
Click OK
Click the "Launch System Restore" button
On the Left hand side click on "System Restore Settings"
Put a Check in "Turn off System Restore"
Apply it and OK out of there>>Reboot your computer

Back in Windows, Go back and take the check out of "Turn off system restore"
This will reenable the System Restore feature and creates a new restore point

Check for updates every couple of weeks
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"
                   
*Keep up to date on Windows updates
You appear to be set to AutoUpdate, good move
Keeping up on all latest High Priority updates with Windows Updates is one of the most important steps in keeping your system secure

*Check for updates with your anti-spyware programs and run a scan on a regular basis
In addition, after checking for updates with Spybot 1.4
Click the "Immunize" button on the left>>>OK at the prompt>>Immunzine at the top green cross
Please Immunize after every update

You may also choose to hold onto Ewido and CleanUp!
Ewido will become a Limited version in a couple weeks after installation
It's still a very good scanner to update and run once a month

We'll discuss these next steps after you have done the above
*Make sure your Anti-Virus software is always kept up to date and actively running in the background

*A Firewall is very important in the protection of your computer
Windows Service pack 2 contains an adequate firewall protection
If you would like to consider a firewall with more controlled protection

It's important to only use one Software firewall protection, this includes the one supplied with XP
More than one can cause a conflict
