Having a rough time getting rid of Pokapoka79

Can't get rid of that damn elite bar thingy with pokapoka79 as a running process. I've run ewido, cleanup, etc, but i'll do it again as you'd like it.

I don't see it running in your processes,
Are you disabling it or is some program you have running disabling it?
I just want to make sure, I have a fix, but I don't want any protections interfering

hmm..perhaps it was deleted in one my my last ewido runs. If it turns up again I'll let you know. Anything else in there that I could get rid of to speed up my comp?

I do see a few minor problems in your log
Does Ewido stop any bad processes or files from running?

What I was trying to say before, if you are having problems with Elitebar
and Ewido or any other program is restricting it from letting me see it
We should disable those programs to ensure I see everything
Then we get you completely clean
Afterwards your reenable your protections to prevent any other nasties from getting into your computer

Can you please post a fresh hijackthis log and then I'll post back a few fixes
Nothing major, but they should be taken care of

Although I don't see any remnants of Elitebar left
I would like you to run this batch file, just in case

Please download LQfix.exe from one of the following locations:

http://www.downloads.subratam.org/LQfix.exe
http://miekiemoes.geekstogo.com/tools/LQfix.exe

Save it to your desktop.

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/2474aef3decb017cd922/...ip/RdxIE601.cab


After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis
  • Double-Click LQfix.exe and click Next > Next > Install.
  • Leave the default settings, if you change them, the fix will Fail!
  • You need an active Internet connection, so make sure your connection is enabled.
  • Now make sure the "Launch LQfix" box is checked.
  • Click the Finish button, after clicking the Finish button the fix will start.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Your system will reboot afterwards.
  • Please be patient after the reboot, there is a script running in the background that needs to complete.
Post back a fresh hijackthis log, let me know how things are running

Ok, did what ya said..only when i Launched lqfix, it gave me this error towards the bottom of the dos prompt:

Lqfirst.bfu and or lqsecond.bfu NOT PRESENT..

what to do?

You must allow the fix Internet connection
Or something else went wrong

Try this instead
Please download miekiemoes' LQfix batch here:
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiem...tools/LQfix.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.


Once in Safe Mode, please run LQfix.bat. When finished, restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log.

Let me know how things are running

When was the last time you ran a Disk Defragment on this computer?

Can I see an uninstall list from Hijackthis please
Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section>>Open Uninstall manager
Click the SAVE LIST button
Save the list to desktop then copy and paste the whole contents back here please

I would do a disk defrag

Addtionally, Spybot 1.4 has been released for quite some time now
I would uninstall your version of Spybot 1.3
Reboot if prompted and go get Spybot 1.4

You can also remove LQfix 2.1 from add/remove

Your version of Firefox is a bit out of date
You may want to uninstall Firefox 1.07 and install the latest version
Firefox 1.5.0.1

Your versions of Java are out of date
You should opt to remove
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_05
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06

Then go download and install the latest version
http://java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp
I like the Windows OFFLINE installation
It's a bigger download but the installation is more successful

For added protections:
*Install  SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 by JavaCool[/url]  
    *Will block bad ActiveX Controls
    *Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
    *Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer
After installation, Check for updates and then click the "Enable all protection"
Check for updates every couple of weeks
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"

*Check for updates with your anti-spyware programs and run a scan on a regular basis
In addition, after checking for updates with Spybot 1.4
Click the "Immunize" button on the left>>>OK at the prompt>>Immunzine at the top green cross
Please Immunize after every update

Are you running the evalution version of Trend Micro Anti-Spyware?

Windows Service pack 2 has been out for awhile now, why so far behind on Windows udpates??

I didn't like the way my system ran on service pack 2..game me nothing but problems.

As far as all the other things, I will get right on it. You were a huge help to me quest, thank you so much for your time.

Most of the time a bad install of SP2 is due to malware on the computer
Or programs and drivers are out of date

Do that Disk Defrag if you haven't done it already

one of the main problems was with itunes..wouldn't work with sp2 until i unistalled sp2 ..then no probs.
