What version of Nortons' was it???

Do you still have DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) installed?

Can you also do the following please
Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaul...rch/search.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadQM] loadqm.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lich] lich.exe

O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer

Find and delete this file if found
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Lich.exe <-this file

Can you post back a fresh hijackthis log please

Can you also, open Spybot>>Click on HELP>>ABOUT>>Let me know Spybot version and latest detection update date

ONE NOTE: I see this in your hijackthis log
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [FreeRAM XP] "C:\Program Files\YourWare Solutions\FreeRAM XP Pro\FreeRAM XP Pro.exe" -win
I don't usually recommend a program to help free resources that uses resources itself
Especially in Win98
Take a look at this link
Here's a quote from a startup page
Quote
Name:   [FreeRAM XP]Status:   U
File:   FreeRAM XP Pro x.exe
Some users swear by memory management utilities such as http://www.yourwaresolutions.com/FreeRAM XP Pro  but others say you don't need them - especially if you have Win98 or WinME. See http://www.aumha.org/a/memmgmt.htmthis  article and make up your own mind. x indicates the version number

Since these issues appear resolved, I'll lock this topic
