CD-rewritable drive not recognized
« on: July 16, 2006, 10:11:44 AM »
Recently my sister's pc had problems and she had to reinstall Windows ME.  She has a Microsoft Lite-on LTR-52327s rewritable cd drive installed, in addition to another cd-rom drive.  Adaptec Direct CD Wizard states the following message "No supported CD-R/CD-RW drive".  She is unable to burn CD's.  I went into the device manager and it shows the RW drive as just a CD-rom drive.  She does not have the installation disk that went with her Lite-on drive.  How can I get her pc to recognize the drive as a rewritable drive.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives\Volume{51ec65fc-b3ab-11d8-84ca-806d6172696f}

This is what I ended up with after I followed everything. At first the volume did not show. After closing a re open it did. I also have a dvd player. ( not recorder) This isn't working either

Anyway its still not working. Gosh I thought it was. It sure appears as if its trying to read it. I set music match as the default player but once again is says no disc in drive.

I went into regedit hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer and that's where I stopped.  My sister's pc does not have CD burning under the explorer folder.  She has ME on her pc.  The link information was for XP.  Should the CD burning folder still be there?  How do I get it?

Have you seen this link?
http://www.iomega.com/europe/support/engli...nts/10866e.html

You may just have to update your burning software
Have you checked Roxio's site?

Have you checked for updates from Lite-On?
http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option...&Itemid=153

You could also try the following, remove your burning software from add/remove programs
Reboot the computer
Try this free software, it's a great free program
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/features.php
Don't let the name fool you, your drive is apparently supported
Also comaptible with
Operating systems: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003 Server
