« Reply #20 on: December 13, 2001, 11:29:02 AM »
boy you are adventurus a tri-boot

2K & XP run on the same drivers, so I would guess that it\'s driver related, have you tried resetting the drivers to the 2k default ones ?

you can also try getting the latest drivers from creative that may work!

Also check that the drivers you are running for you mother board are the lastest ones avalible, intel usally hide these on there website saying they are only for system developers.

I tried getting all of the latest drivers from Creative and MS. Nothing worked untill I disabled IRQ steering. My mother board handles it better than windows I guess. Sound Blaster Live uses a few IRQs as I recall. Might want to try diasabling the IRQ steering - you should be able to  go and change it back if it doesn\'t work. All it takes is a restart. My 2 cents.

I tried reseting to default w2k driver, nothing, tried replacing to another PCI slot, no sound and disabled IRQ steering not help to me. I think there is a problem with I/O resources, but change resources button, under device manager, not active in W2K and XP, so now I dont know what to do :-(

Try pulling all of the other cards out of the machine (except video). Then try it in different slots. You may need to update your mother board drivers.

My system is: AMD K6-2 450, GIGABYTE GA-5AX F4, SB Live!Value with Digital Out. My problem also same as your guy. Works fine in Windows 98, but no sound in Windows 2000 Professional SP-2. I remove my SB Live!Value and replace with my friend SB Live!Value WITHOUT Digital Out (Gateway) in the same slot, it can work properly on windows default driver. Is it those having this problem, your SB Live!Value with Digital Out function?

Download Liveware 3.1 from the Soundblaster site. Remove all drivers relating to the SoundBlaster and install Liveware 3.1. SoundBlaster Live Value will work with no problems in W2K, it works for me any way

I am having difficulty recording environmental audio effects with a line input.  When I record through my sound editor (Sound Forge) I want to use the delays that are in environmental audio as an effect on a guitar.  When I record the effect does not come through, only the guitar dry.  How do I record the effect.  I do not have a \"what you hear option\" for recording preferences.  I am running Windows 2000.  Thanks for any help.

I have Win 2k SP2 a Epox 8-KTA MB and a AMD 700 T-Bird
with a VIA chipset.
There is a issue with Via chipsets, SP2, and SB Live software.
I had to get the CD from SB (after waiting 3 months and 4 phone calls) for the full software.  SB doesn\'t have the full software on the sit anymore because of its size and their server couldn\'t handle the requests any more (direct from SB).
You have to install the Via patch in the right order and again after installing some driver software.  See Via\'s site for the details:

http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=3&faq=7&Search=install

Question:
I am having trouble with a system using a VIA chipset including a 686b southbridge and a Creative Sound Blaster Live card.
Answer:
When the 686b southbridge was first released, motherboard manufacturers and VIA discovered a problem when trying to transfer files between the primary and the secondary IDE channels on motherboards using ultra-DMA, when a Sound Blaster Live was plugged in and drivers activated. This issue was caused because too much noise is transferred across the PCI bus by the Sound Blaster Live driver set. In an attempt to fix this issue, some motherboard manufacturers modified their BIOS. In some instances, these modifications to the BIOS caused a data corruption error even when not using a Sound Blaster Live. VIA released a patch which resolves this issue, which is incoroporated in the 4in1 drivers from the 4.31 version onwards. Motherboard manufacturers were advised to change the modifications made to thier BIOS to elimate the data corruption issue. If you are experiencing data corruption or lock up when transferring files between two IDE drives: 1) Make sure you have the latest BIOS from your motherboard manufacturer. 2) Make sure you have the latest 4in1 drivers 3) Make sure when you set up your system that you install the 4in1 drivers both before and after you install the SBL to make sure that the drivers see your SBL and install the correct patch. The patch will only install if the SBL is installed
