FS 2004 install problem
« on: October 01, 2006, 03:18:40 AM »
Hi,

Pleased to be here!

Need some help please.

I've tried loading Flight Simulator 2004 several times, but I keep getting this error:

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2005 found an error in the disk when writing in the file C:\program file\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Sound\lessonsp5-26.wav. Make sure that the disk isn't full and restart the insallation program.

I live in Spain, which means my windows is in Spanish. In the translation 'File' could actually be 'archive'.

Looks like a 'sound' problem. Although the sound seems to be working perfectly well. Device manager says that it is working.

There are 2 possible installation options, which reguires CD1, or CD2. The error appears with both CDs, which means it can't be a CD problem.

I've defragmented and tried installing it in safe mode, but I still get the same problem.

I've updated 'windows media', but the problem is still there.

My OS is winxp (haven't got the CD) and DirectX 9c is installed.

Thanks for any advice.

jww

I really am unsure about this
Just by chance, can you transfer all the contents from the CD to your hard drive and install from there?
Just put the cd in and if it autoplays close it
Then go to MyComputer>>Right click your CD drive and Explore
Copy>>paste everything to a new folder on desktop as eg....

Hi questolo,

I've found out that the problem is with the game.
It's a common problem called: GAME6, which is on
the 2nd CD.
I'm going to take it back to the shop.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

John
