Alright this has just been killing me, and I've been running around google like a chicken with it's head cut off. I have windows xp professional x64 edition SP1 and I had it working for the longest time then I got a new mobo and had to install it again. Of course I put off figuring out the activation again and now I have like a day. Here's what's really getting me though the way my previous windows x64 was hacked was an ingenius way of doing it. Sadly I can't remember how or find the danm article that had the instructions. Another post makes reference to this activation bypass, but here's what I remember.
There was a way to trick the activation process into thinking it was booting in safemode, in normal mode that way it wouldn't prevent you from using windows since safe mode can be accessed without activation. So the windows is never activated but you can still use it just fine, it's just brilliant, and it's pissing me off that I didn't even save the document. The whole process is amazing to me, why send so much time on getting it activated when you can just get it to work without ever activating it. From what I remember there may have been some sort of manipulation with the window\system32\oobe directory. I remember doing something in safemode as well, and that when I did it my activation had even expired which was cool since I thought all was lost.
If anyone at all knows what I'm talking about and has the instructions for this I'd be extremely appreciative, and happy as hell, since google has just been giving me headaches, how may ways can I type "windows x64 activation hack" and get nothing useful? Anyway thank you in advance and hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about.
