I was hoping you would run Combofix first and post the log then post the uninstall list
You didn't even post the combofix log  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':o\' />

Can you redo the steps I asked for
Quote
Download this file - Combofix.exe and save it too desktop
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Post the log from combofix please

Also, supply an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Open Hijackthis>>Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents

I'll just hold tight till both new logs are posted

Try the following
Let's do some cleaning

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop.
We'll need it later

download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
Save it to your desktop
We'll need it later

Download>>Install AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 from Ewido networks
  • Load AVG-antispyware and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Close it afterwards, as we will need it later
==Download and save Brute Force Uninstaller to the desktop
  • Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
  • Click "Next"
  • In the box to choose where to extract the files to, click "Browse"
  • Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
  • Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
  • Click "Make New Folder"
  • Type in BFU
  • Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".
RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download Alcan worm remover.
Save it then transfer to the
same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

We should update your version of Sun Java to plug up security holes that malware can exploit
==Download the latest version of  Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation Multi-language
Save the file to your Desktop.
Don't install it yet

Print the rest of these instructions or save them too a text file on your desktop

Access your Add/remove programs via Control Panel
Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
eg..J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1_04

They should have the following icon next to it:
Select it and click Remove on any found

Stay in add/remove programs
Remove the next ones also
MediaTickets by OIN
Then finally remove
Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.3
Spybot isn't malicious, but terribly out of date

Reboot the computer
Back in Windows

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O3 - Toolbar: &VSToolBar - {821F87FF-8245-4972-9E28-732E92EC2F51} - C:\Program Files\VSToolbar\VSToolBar.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SVC Hosts] svchosts.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [SVC Hosts] svchosts.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SVC Hosts] svchosts.exe
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{9DD342EF-B430-47D4-A63F-828B3E350433}: NameServer = 85.255.116.157 85.255.112.166
O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\Kg\command.exe
O23 - Service: Network Monitor - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Network Monitor\netmon.exe
O23 - Service: Remote Plugin Service - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsyss.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Windows Task Manager - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vcmon.exe (file missing)

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

FixWareout
Double click on Fixwareout.exe to run it
Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.  You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.  Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads a text file will open
 (report.txt)
Can you save it somewhere you will remember, like on the desktop

Then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in safe mode
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
  • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
  • Click the "Delete Cookies" button
  • Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
  • When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):
  • Go to Tools > Options.
  • Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
  • Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
  • Click OK to close the Options window

Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.
* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin
  • Go to start > run and type:
cleanmgr and click ok.
  • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Press OK to remove them.
==Go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
  • Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
  • Next to the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon
    and select alcanshorty.bfu
  • Press Execute and let it do it's job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
