WinXP Corporate Edition???
« on: June 12, 2002, 08:52:34 PM »
my friend has just given me a copy of windows xp... ive looked into the setupp.ini file and found that it looks like a corporate edition according to the pid #...  xxxxx270...  one question i ask is if the first five numbers have anything to do with the version of winxp, since ive looked up in a article and it said that these are the numbers(although they are interchangable):

Retail = 51882 335
Volume License = 51883 270
OEM = 82503 OEM

another question is if it will be disabled if i dont use an unused serial #... ive been reading and seen that some people say that microsoft can disable ur xp if u update it, but on the other hand others have updated perfectly fine... so will i need to use a specific serial number...  i also got office xp and would like to know if it is different or the same as windows xp... will the numbers in the pid have the same effect?  can updating disable it if i dont have good serial numbers???... if i do need unused serial numbers, is there a place i can get ones that will be unused, or if i tryu them out and they dont work, will i be able to uninstall and reinstall so i could use it w/o updating???? sorry for such a long post... thanks
