Upgrade from Win2K to WinXP on striped diskset
« on: September 03, 2002, 10:25:28 AM »
I got a 30 gig disk and a 80 gig disk, and I run Windows2000 Pro. I \"upgraded\" the disks from basic disks to dynamic disks, and took 30 gigabyte from each disk to get a 60 gig striped volume, C: . A 15 gig E: is where I got the system files, and the rest is another volume.

Now, I got WindowsXP Pro and thought I should upgrade from Windows2000 to WinXP (or atleast get a dual boot), I never really thought this would be a problem. But, when I fire the installation process up, the computer restarts and gets into the first blue installation screen (where you choose what volume to install on etc), there I get the error that Windows XP doesn\'t support dynamic disks.

Is there any way I can upgrade from Win2k to WinXP without having to delete everything on my disks and demote them to basic disks?

Thanks,
