root files on c: for win2k
« on: April 23, 2001, 05:52:59 AM »
I did something stupid apparently.

situation before :(dual boot)
 c drive : win98
 d drive : win2k

I want to remove win98
i use Partition magic and make the d drive the primary and active drive and merge it with the c drive
the d drive has become the c-drive, but the root files of the c drive are gone (off course)

result i don\'t have the root files to start up win2k.
can someone list those files (also the hidden files) ?
is it possible to copy them onto the root of the c-drive to have it working again ? (win2k is in c:winnt)
if so, can someone send me these files ? (dhe87Email Removed)

tx in advance.

No, you can\'t just copy the files. Unless i am terribly mistaken you will have to re run the windows 2000 setup again. I don\'t know of a way to copy the windows 2000 boot files back to the hard drive like windows 98 had the \'sys\' command.
Good luck, and make sure you backup your \'$hiT\' before you try that.

Boot W2K either CD or Floppies choose \'Repair\' and select  \'check bootsector\' and uncheck everything else. This operation restores the bootfiles neceessary for W2K.
