flash is loading slow
« on: October 06, 2007, 12:46:30 AM »
I've been playing a certain flash game for 3 days now, and each level usually loads in about 5 seconds...and for some reason tonight its taking about 45 seconds...

its not just this game, its everything flash...my site's homepage (a flash page) takes nearly a minute to open...and youtube too since they use swf
s to display their videos...

something must be wrong...its a brand new computer, less than a month old...and i check for flash updates, nothing...

thanks for helping

EDIT:

i just ran a speedtest...my download speed is 249 kb/s......................

thats just insanely low...compared to my usually 5k or so

EDIT AGAIN:

I think its getting worse, or I am just noticing it more...

now webpages are taking longer to open, normal images are taking 10 seconds instead of instant...

i feel like I am on dial-up...

Nothing malicious it appears
Could it be your ISP is having problems today?

The only entries that may cause slow bandwidth in your log, but most likely not the problem
jusched.exe>>related to Sun java updater
Ventrilo.exe>>>Voip related
freecap.exe>>Appears to be Steam related, I'm unsure of what it does

I see hamachi.exe in your log, not running however
VPN I use to use a while back

Again, I don't think any of the above would cause these slowdowns
Can you check your taskmanager and see if anything using CPU usage
That would interfere with your bandwidth

I don't see any filesharing programs running, doesn't mean you don't have them
Are they running on this or any other computer in the household

Note: Runecore.net loaded in about 4 seconds for me
Having you tried clearing cache in Firefox then close and reopen it?

Ive been without internet for 10 hours, finally shut off completely i guess...

now it just came back on and my ping on ventrilo is up from the usual 16 to 476...

------
the programs you listed are all definitely not malicious, i use them everyday

freecap is a program that allows me to externally alter / add features to other current programs...pretty useful...

------
just timed runecore.net and the intro page took 57 seconds to load :s

ive cleared cache, reset the router, ive done just about all the basics...thats when i decided to make this thread thinking it might be a malicious program, but i cant remember downloading anything lately other than the normal small stuff...

------
im pretty sure its just my ISP, thanks for your help though...i need to get off dsl and onto something less...issue related...

If you think it is something you downloaded, I would make a new operating system on your computer and use one for downloading and one for normal use. Since the "Viruses" are connected to the program, switching your operating system looses the virus and you can get the clean program no matter what. That's just what I do.
