Never heard of it, what benefit does it have?

Not including your AntiVirus software, or even your Windows Defender protections
You decide what you need running on startup
I wouldn't use msconfig to control startup items
I consider it a troubleshooting tool, as you and I have just use
Why not try and install Codestuff's STARTER
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/starter.htmleliminate what you don't need from running on startup
You can decide what you don't need from the following link
http://www.castlecops.com/modules.php?name=StartupListAs eg...
Take this entry in your hijackthis log
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Reader Speed Launcher] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\Reader_sl.exe"
Enter this at the link
Reader_sl.exeI get the following
Speeds up the time it takes to load the Adobe_Reader application. Your choice, but not required for Adobe Reader to function properly
Also, it has a N rating
Not required, optionally you can disable on startup
Use STARTER to disable startup entries
Again, you decide what you require on startup
