Hard Drive Benchmarking

I saw a reference to ATTO in a review on the Tech Guide site. I downloaded it and ran it on several drives. As I recall in the review (which I cannot locate) write and read drive performance were very nearly equal. On my machines running several types of drives write speeds are about half of read speeds. I am getting reads of 18 MB/Sec on the ATA100 drive but I would like to know what might be limiting the write speeds on that drive to 11 MB/Sec?

well,
it\'s actually very very hard to tell with out more info,
BUT
i would suggest enabling DMA, and perhaps
checking your IRQ setting, possibly moving it up on the list
what kind of drive is it? manufacturer?
