No audio icon in taskbar
« on: April 04, 2008, 08:15:11 AM »
Hello,
I noticed that my audio icon is missing from my task bar. I recently had a new harddrive and cd/dvd installed but can't recall if it (the icon) was there and disappeared or was never there to begin with.

I am running Windows XP on an HP laptop. If I open "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" from control panel, there is no audio device listed and all the checkboxes (such as "show icon on task bar") are all de-activated- you can't check or uncheck them.

Also, I tried installing the driver for my new webcam and when it came to setting up the audio it said, "no speakers detected".

Any ideas how to fix this? Thank you!

Did you check the manufacturers website for audio drivers, etc..

Thanks- I feel so stupid now. I just thought seeing as it was part of the computer I wouldn't have to install a driver for it. Works fine now. Thank you!
