now i am really stuck.

brought the linksys befw11s4 router and setup using the cables and all that. it runs perfectly well with my adsl modem( which i am using now).

carry it to my neighbour and uses the same stuff, the link light won't come on....( he is using sb4200 cable modem). why ??

Did you make sure his network card was installed right. Right click my computer and make sure it is installed .

Has, nic is installed properly.

What i don't understand is why the link light which shows the connection is not on.

It should be on, if the hardware is detected even before we do any settings right?

Ok! thanks for everybody helps....after days of trying. Realised that the cable is fault after borrowing one working one from another neighbour.

Now I have another problem....with W2k Profiles.

I am using wpc11 pcmcia card on my notebook. when with adminstrator log in, the card can access the AP.

But when log in as another standard user profile, the card is stated active but no link...why ??
