If you get a screen with \"You can now safely shut dow your computer\" or something like this , you dhould go to the devive manager , view , show hidden devices ,nt Amp/Legacy support,Nt Amp/Legacy interface node , and enable it . If there is a yellow excamation sign , it won\'t work in most cases .
Doesn\'t hurt to try it .

You know I had the same probem after I reinstall win2k/sp3 and winxp/sp1 slipstreamed. It will now say  \"it is safe to turn of your computer\". I called the company where I bought my system, and was told to do a reinstall to fix the problem. After two days of installing all the applications and configuration, there was no way I was going to do this. 1. I went into control panel and opened Power Options. 2.  I clicked UPS and click select to chose Generic though I went back to chose \"None\"after it was working again. 3. I clicked the APM tab and deselect Advance power management and then reseclect it.
Play with it at you own risk. It worked for me, but I had to reinstall my sound drivers which took two seconds.
