Double  click on OTL.exe and Run it
  • Under the [color="#0000FF"]Custom Scans/Fixes[/color] box at the bottom, copy/paste in the following in the quote box below. don't include the word Quote please
    Quote
    :OTL
    @Alternate Data Stream - 95 bytes -> C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TEMP:5C321E34
    @Alternate Data Stream - 157 bytes -> C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TEMP:3DB0B938
    @Alternate Data Stream - 149 bytes -> C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TEMP:7715B65F
    @Alternate Data Stream - 146 bytes -> C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TEMP:4F58D818

    @Alternate Data Stream - 123 bytes -> C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TEMP:2A8A3140
    @Alternate Data Stream - 117 bytes -> C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\TEMP:3E35D9D6
    :Reg
    :Files
    ipconfig /flushdns /c
    :Commands
    [EmptyTemp]
    [EmptyFlash]
    [RESETHOSTS]
    [Reboot]

  • Then click the [color="#FF0000"]Run Fix[/color] button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

On startup, Allow OTL to run if prompted
A log should open, can you post it please
A copy of this log can also be found in
C:\_OTL\Moved Files folder

In addition, try HostXpert again, try resetting your Host file to original
Does it now work?

Houston, we have a problem!!

ok... copy pasted, without the quote, pasted in the bottom box of OTL, half way a pop up window appeared saying OTL...."Error:cannot create file C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/host, then I click ok. The scan seemed to be frozen, nothing was happening and I waited for about 5 minutes. SO I did a manual reboot. When reboot finished, a txt came up...." Error: Unable to interpret <[RESETHOSTS] > in the current context!
Error: Unable to interpret <[Reboot]> in the current context!

OTL by OldTimer - Version 3.2.17.3 log created on 12222010_165408

I tried it again the second time...same scenario got the popup window..Error:cannot create file....ect this time instead of doing a manual reboot. I did a ctrl+alt+delete, click on restart and then I got this txt:"Files\Folders moved on Reboot...
File\Folder C:\WINDOWS\temp\klsD79A.tmp not found!
File move failed. C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\Hosts scheduled to be moved on reboot.

Registry entries deleted on Reboot...

I then went to hostxpert, click on it and I get this message:"Host file does not exist, press ok to create hosts file, cancel to quit. I canceled to quit, so I click yes, bamm another pop up with that same error..cannot creat file...!!

I suspect you didn't copy/paste everything I asked

Try again, ensure you include Everything in Blue below, even the : right before OTL

What happens when you go to START>>RUN>>type in cmd
Hit OK
At the command prompt type in ipconfig /flushdns
Hit ENTER

What message do you get onscreen?

Everything good on my side:D, glad I can put a smile on your face!!

We're trying to get those pesky videos to play on one particular website.

It's no big deal if I can't view them. I won't loose sleep over it, so if you want to close this thread it is ok.
