Integrating DirectX 9 into Windows XP CD
« on: April 08, 2003, 02:13:52 AM »
Hi,

I have seen a number of threads in this site as to how to add sp1 to windows xp, add directx 9 and mediaplayer 9 to windows xp cd etc..

Can anyone make a post which will contain all these together. That is can somebody make a post that will answer all the following questons in a single post (if possible)

1. How can I install directX 9 silently during Windows XP install?
2. How can I install Media Player 9 silently during Windows XP install?
3. How can I install Winamp silently during Windows XP install?
4. How can I install Acrobat 5 silently during Windows XP install?
5. How can I install Winamp silently during Windows XP install?
I am asking this because I reinstall frequently and these are the apps i require to install all the time. There is one more question. I had successfully integrated the sp1 and nvidia\'s nforce drivers. I have added the motorola modem driver as well. but the Windows X installer asks for the location of the file \"sm56pci.sys\" why does this happen. Also I cannot install the Nforce Audio Utility supplied with nforce driver. For this the windows xp setup gives the error as it didn\'t find the dll entry point in hal.

Can somebody help me in this matter?
Will it be possible for the administrator to upload a single file describing how to do this?

First off you just cant \"intergrate\" everything...in the time it takes you to find the answers (which you dont seem to want to spend) you could of figured out how to program a simple c/c++/delphi/etc... program to run a \"macro\" type of command to control your answer\'s.

If you want to know how to do those things you should try...right now your pretty lazy. However, you might not have the time.

Anyways on winamp. If you already have it installed export the registry key and run that as soon as the system boots. Then (actually before would before would be better) copy over the winamp install dir to wherever you want it. You dont need to install ALOT of programs unless you want shell features..i this case you will have to track down the extensions and keys and put them in at boot.

On the other hand you could just make a ghost image and be done with it.

I know it might be scary...but try to work something out yourself first then maybe others can build on that or fix it somehow. Your system mess\'s up? Well you install frequently so who cares (you should just reload a image as it only takes 5 minutes and your back on your feet).  Right now your 1 of millions who have questions with no chance of answers.

If you decide to ghost...and you should by all means...make sure you install a fresh image WITHOUT detecting plug-n-play hardware. Else you will have a ghost image that contains certain hardware that might not be on everybodies systems and just yours.

Hi,

It\'s not because I\'m lazy but I have only a dial up connection that boasts 33.3 kbps connect speed and 1kbps download speed. So I can\'t be online all the time .. it costs nearly 1$ per hour here in India.
