Adsl And Linux
« on: April 15, 2003, 11:04:59 AM »
Ok I have been faced with this problem of not being able to get my ADSL usb modem to work under linux 9.1, but aftere trying to get help from several forums, which on one replied, though it did not work, but the mere fact that a replied was rendered was very satisfying.

so hence the reason I have decided to post this here.

The solution was simple really, first make sure u have the necessary file install, if u don,t have it then download and install the mgmt.o file from alcatel spped touch and sopy it to the /usr/speedtouch dir, then the other most important thing to check is to verify your vci and vpi information this is very important as different ISP's may have different settings for this.

if u need to: edit the /usr/bin/pppoa3 -vpi? -vci?
? being your isp information

make sure u have setup this before putting in your username and password  though it does not really matter but it a wise decision to do this first.

reboot your kernel and voila u should be ready to go.

any problems then u can email me

hope this help's enjoy
