networking winxp to win98se problem
« on: June 25, 2003, 07:22:17 AM »
I want to network win xp and win 98se on a crossover, but don't seem be able to do this as the two operating systems can't see each other, I have entered all IP's/DNS and gateway details, the cards are working but no network finding is happening, my XP machine is on Broadband and Win 98 to share the Connection, any ideas on how to get around this.

Put in the XP CD and run the network setup wizard on both machines, make sure the workgroup name is the same on both. You may have to create a user on the 98 machine with the same name and password as the XP machine.

make sure that you have any FIREWALLS DISABLED or TURNED OFF for the time being you want to access any files on your network neighborhood.
