Random lockups:

I mean random within the first 5 minutes.
ANYTIME, including during bios bootup my computer just hangs.
No control-alt-delete, or anything (probably hasn't even loaded yet).

Disconnected hard drive, cd-roms, and even the floppy but computer can still hang during bios. (they are now reconnected)

MS8157E Motherboard,
AMD Athelon XP 2000+ processor
512 mb memory... forgot off the top of my head

But when it locks up during  my boot floppy, the blinking curser thing still blinks,

Lock-ups are caused by several things like a defective/dead  PSU, virus or overheating.
You should flash with the latest bios. Make sure the heatsink is making good contact with the CPU.  If you have 2 sticks of RAM you could try removing 1 then try the other. Are you overclocking anything? Go into BIOS and check all settings make sure thy are not too aggressive like memory timing and set to BOOT ON NO ERRORS. What OS are you using? You say it locks up during your boot floppy are you trying to use the boot disk to start pc?
