Critical Stop on Boot
« on: February 16, 2004, 05:09:15 PM »
Hello,
I have a problem with my computer, in that I CANNOT USE IT!! Everytime I boot my computer, I get the blue screen with this error:
STOP: 0x0000007E
(0xC0000005, 0xF855BFD6, 0xF8980CA0, 0xF89809A0)

MountMgr.sys- Address F855BFD6 base at F8555000,
DateStamp 3b7d82e8

- It happened after I ran disk defragmenter and then the checkdisk ran through the next time I booted up. After that I keep getting this error. If anyone has any help, I would appreciate it much. Time is of the essence. Thanks in advance.

What are the specs of your computer?  Custom built, IBM, HP (ugh), Processor RAM, etc....  It would help if we knew what you are running.  I'm sure it's not a Commadore 64.....

I had the same problem w/xp - it happened so fast- and rebooted - that I finally had to videotape the screen, then hit pause when the error flashed by to see what the heck it said . . . anyway, I had uninstalled a video driver just before it went crazy, and apparently that is what caused it. So I just took my AGP video card out and put a PCI card in - rebooted, and it came up.

A fatal system error (STOP error) causes the computer to stop the Automatically restart option is selected under System failure in the Startup and Recovery dialog box in System Properties.

Well I just finished emailing my computer manufacturer and if they cannot help me with this, I believe I will just reformat my hard drive and install a genuine copy of windows. IF anyone knows how to reformat and would like to help, that would also be great.

Hello,

I had the same problème. And my friends and I, found nothing to repaire it...

My only solution was to reformat it with a Windows XP boot-cd...Just put your cd of Windows XP in. You can after this try to make a REPAIR with this cd (for me it doesn't work).

You can, if you have PowerQuest-PartitionMagic, try to reboot your computer with the boot-floppy. For me, again, it doesn't work  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />

So, I hope you will find a solution to your problem...sorry, I can't help you more...
