finding windows xp password

I believe the download of windows media player has shut down my xp operating system. I am trying to use the repair from the cd but it is asking for my password. i didn't install xp originally and i'm unable of a password. what can i do?

use Rock XP keychanger it will tell you your key/serial number and change it if you wish.

Changing the key is useless. When XP was installed a password wasn't given so you unable to use Recovery Console.  You may have to format the drive and reinstall XP.
