Can Not install Direct X 9

hey guys
Got the game Warlords 4  but it needs Direct x 9- well it comes on the cd so no big deal right?
My @!& computer will not let me install direct x 9 because it hasnt been tested. I mean What the hell- it will not even give me the option of installing it- the cpu PREVENTS me from putting Direct x 9 on it. Any ideas besides taking an axe to it?

Just a suggestion...why not try to d/l direct x from the microsoft site or the windows update?  Try that first before you rule out that the computer will not take direct x 9.  It is possible, but not likely, that the direct x version on your cd may not be the correct one for your OS.

I did download it specifically from microsoft web site once  I found out I couldnt  install it from the Warlord cd. Still the same result- the cup will not take the install- it starts  but then it tells me nope aint going to do it.
  Is there something I can change on my cpu so i can install whatever i want?
  Also I have no problems running other software- I have Magic Battle Grounds,  FF 11 Online,  Pirates of the Caribean, if that helps any. I just cant install Direct X 9- very frustrating.
