CPU USAGE ALWAYS @ 100%
« on: June 27, 2004, 07:26:36 PM »
Hello,

I don't know if this problem has been adressed before. If it has, I'm sorry, and please point me to the thread about it.

Well, my computer (P 4, XP Home Edition) get slow (the CPU usage goes up to 100% and stays that way) everytime I click on an icon on my desktop. When I boot it, all is fine and well until I click on an icon or try to navigate with Explorer.

It get so slow that it's impossible to use the computer. The only way I can navigate through my hard drive is by opening a window with Internet Explorer (and it's with it that I'm able to use the computer).

The CPU usage percentage only comes down when I terminate Explorer using the task manager. But lately, I have to terminate other programs so as to bring the CPU usage percentage down http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />

I have used Norton Antivirus, Spybot and Adaware with no success http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':o\' /> , and frankly, I don't even know why I have this problem.

Can you anybody out there help me?!!!
