This one is about the nastiest hijack I have seen.  I can't get rid of it & not it's worse than ever.  Registry keys I can't figure out & popups.  It's causing conflicts in my banking software when online & prevents me from installing softare with a bad sector/virus message.  Here is my Hijack this log.  CWShredder is not updated to fix this problem. Below is my HijackThis log.  Note that R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank   keeps coming back regardless of what method I delete.  Anybody?  PLEASE HELP!!

I figured I would drop a short note, as none of the above referenced suggestions would help me this go around. Between Norton Antivirus & Firewall, CWShredder, Spybot Search & Destroy, and Hijack This (all good programs) I could not fix this problem this time. My homepage would still revert back to the about:blank search page no matter what I did! After fooling around with my computer for nearly 4 hours, I finally fixed it by logging in as the administrator under safe mode and running the CWShredder, man that program is awesome (thanks merjin)!. Normally, my anti-virus would pick up everything under safe mode, or CWShredder would normally pick up everything in regular Windows operation, but not this time, my home page would still revert back to the about:blank. So I guess the virus coming in would effect even at the administrator level.

Anyway, hope that helps someone. I swear these viruses are getting more and more nasty! They seem to start spoofing or blocking themselves from being detected by my anti-virus and even start controlling it, like keeping my Live update from working and stopping from detecting viruses as well! It's getting harder and harder to stop the attacks! Thinking about getting a Mac instead!! LOL. Either that or stay away from the porn sites!!!

To everyone involved.  I just wanted to pass along the great thank you for all the help..  I got lucky...  Just ran CW-Shredder and all is well with my system...   I had the same issue with About:blank coming up everytime I would access IE.. It's done,,, Fixed and my custoemr is happy... thanks again to all for the valuable information.

http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

I discovered that a hidden dll named DCKP.dll was somehow threaded throughout the registry and as long as one DCKP was still present it would somehow generate the other to help to continue the annoying reappearance of about:blank.
Every time I opened a map, the about:blank would come back right away, however when I opened and .exe or f.i. a Word file, it didn't! So I looked for links within the registry.
When I deleted a total of four DCKP.dll files distributed over the registry, including the thread (in my case "Apartment") in those maps, the problem finally was solved.
I'm sure this analysis process helped me for possible future tricks, even though I know that sometimes the "robbers" are more clever than the "cops".
It's fine to be able to use a program like CWShredder in safe mode, but it's even nicer to discover some of the logic behind the nasty tricks.
