He keeps getting a vxd56 internet browser whenever he opens IE. Kindly let me know what I need to do?

Hi again Ashkay, this one definitely needs some cleanup
With some tools we can get this machine running smooth again

Access the Add/Remove Programs via Control Panel and Remove if found
WhenUSave
BullsEye Network
RESTART the computer if anything removed

If your friend doesn't use Wild Tangent>>Remove it also
There may be 3 entries in the add/remove programs
Restart again if removed

Please run both of these Spyware removers,
Both are free

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
Ensure you have this version
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates

Perform a Full system scan--"Uncheck Search for Negligible Risk Entries" before scanning
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

RESTART your computer back to finish the cleaning process

Download and Install Spybot S&D 1.3
When Installing, please don't enable TEA TIMER, it's a great addon to Spybot but it can get in our way to do any manual fixes.. This can be enabled at a later time if you want it
After installation--Click the Update button on the left, in the window on the right click the
SEARCH FOR UPDATES button, Check and download all updates
Click the "Search and Destroy" Button
In the right window, click the
Check for Problems Let it complete it's scanning---Ensure to check and FIX everything in RED---they should be checked by default
RESTART your computer to finish the Cleaning process

Another great utility to help clean your temp folders,cookies, prefetch folder, etc...
Windows Cleanup
A small download, once it's installed
Open the program and click the CleanUP button, Let it complete the scan--Log off and back on when prompted

Post back a fresh hijackthis log afterwards, lets see what else we can find

Could you also Download and save to desktop the Standalone Alone version of
CWShredder.exe

Double click to run, Click on only the FIX button and let it fix all it finds
Restart the computer again

And could you download and save to desktop

Looking a little better, let's try doing some more cleanup

Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Restart your computer into SAFE MODE

Find and delete these files or folders in bold if they still exist

C:\WINDOWS\csrss.exe <--this file in the Windows folder, DON'T delete this file in the System32 folder, just the Windows folder

Also my friend was running the free version of the Bulletproof Software. Infact when I downloaded spybot it warned me about this software. It has been uninstalled.

Good work on uninstalling Bullet software
We will have to rid you of the entries in hijackthis

Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section
Open Process Manager
Kill this process if running
C:\WINDOWS\msswchx.exe

Optionally, kill this one too, not a threat, but not needed on startup
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe

RealPlayer works fine without the unneeded updater running, if you decide to prevent this on startup
After you have killed the process
Navigate to realsched.exe and right click on it and rename it to realsched.old
This will ensure it won't startup

Again in Hijackthis' Misc tools section
Click the "Delete File on Reboot"

In the File name box, copy and paste the full path of file to delete I've set in bold below

C:\WINDOWS\msswchx.exe
Click the Open button
You will prompted that the file will be deleted and you must Restart your computer
DON'T Restart your computer yet

Instead use Delete file on Reboot for this line also

C:\WINDOWS\mshta.exe
Again, don't restart your computer yet

Instead
Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Clock] C:\WINDOWS\mshta.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [POPUPWATCH] C:\Program Files\BulletProofSoft.com\SpywareRemover\popup-watch\PopUpWatch.exe /STARTUP
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SPYWATCH] C:\Program Files\BulletProofSoft.com\SpywareRemover\SpyWatch.exe /STARTUP

Fix this one too, if you choose to disable it on startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
YES and exit Hijackthis

RESTART your computer

Ensure that those 2 files are gone I asked you to delete with the Delete on Reboot feature from Hijackthis
Careful, there is a legit "mshta.exe" in the System32 folder

Also, delete this folder if it exists
C:\Program Files\BulletProofSoft.com <--this folder

This line in your log may morph, it's been know to cause problems
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Clock] C:\WINDOWS\mshta.exe
It's been changing names
You should do an Online Virus scan,
Can you try one at RAV's
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/

When you access that link with Internet Explorer
click on the "To Continue without subsribing click here" link
It will load the activex and definition files

Ensure that all the top entries are checked
Autoclean--Inside Archives---Unpack Executables---Smart Scan

Then click the Scan my PC button
Let it completely finish scanning
Copy and Paste the results back here

And/or try one at Housecall's---set to Autclean
