Question for a Pro?
« on: January 17, 2005, 08:52:36 AM »
Hi,

I am using the Audigrabber program to rip my CD collection for later deposit into an ipod, (which I have not yet aquired) utilizing a LAME encoder which I dropped into the program so I could use it internally, my question is:

I came across this product info: (from Apple):

" 40 GB model holds up to 10,000 songs; supports AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 (32 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible, AIFF, Apple Lossless and WAV "

I have been ripping into VBR (variable bitrate) at the default level on Audiograbber, (just one mark away from the highest quality level)

I notice that my k/bits per second on playback, (as displayed on WMP), sometimes shows these ripped MP3 files are playing back as high as 472 k/bits per second.

According to the ipod's MP3 playback size limit info (as shown above), am I going to be able to use (play) these high bitrate VBR MP3 files on the ipod? (above info seems to indicate 320 as the ceiling), or is this just for CBR? aargh!...

Please help ASAP as I have stopped ripping until I know..

You guys are brilliant, please help..

Mike
