isearch bar keeps appearing after restart
« on: January 19, 2005, 09:42:20 PM »
i have a isearch bar in iexplorer that keeps appearing even after uninstalling, i tried spybot search and destroy(that apparently had solved the problem, but after reboot it came again), adaware, and still the same. i also noticed a value in registry which i cannot delete and its for sure related with this: desktop search _ c:\windows\isrvs\desktop. apparently the name of the isearch bar was isearch firefox. i also have another problem that i dont know whether it's related with this or not: every time i restart there's a scan disk occuring that gives me a error while performing( i checked the disk for errors in windows and everything is ok in there).
furthermore here it is the log of hijack this:
thank you for any reply

Download and UNZIP to a folder Hoster by Toadbee
We'll need this later

Please save hijackthis to a permanent folder
You will either have to move it from the Temporary folder or redownload it
Important: Create a Permanent folder for Hijackthis
Double Click "MY Computer"
Open your C: drive
Click "File" >>> "New" >>>> "Folder"
A new folder will be created, name it HJT

Now you will have C:\HJT

Download Hijackthis from CLICK HERE or CLICK HERE
Save it to that new folder

Run hijackthis from this location C:\HJT\Hijackthis.exe

Print this out or save it to a Notepad file on your desktop for easy access

Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Restart your computer into SAFE MODE

Find these files and folders and delete them in bold if they exist

C:\WINDOWS\System32\toolbar.dll <--file

C:\WINDOWS\isrvs <--folder

Stay in safe mode
Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: BTGrabObj Class - {00000000-F09C-02B4-6EC2-AD0300000000} - C:\WINDOWS\BTGrab.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: IE Update Class - {5B4AB8E2-6DC5-477A-B637-BF3C1A2E5993} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\sysupd.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Desktop Search] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\desktop.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ffis] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\ffisearch.exe

O8 - Extra context menu item: &iSearch The Web - res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\toolbar.dll/SEARCH.HTML

O16 - DPF: {1C78AB3F-A857-482E-80C0-3A1E5238A565} - http://toolbar.isearch.com/general/drm.cab
O16 - DPF: {D62B5127-8D03-4175-BA71-E0041595DA4B} (UDConnect Class) - http://03.sharedsource.org/html/TriacomUD_...D_1.0.0.3ie.cab?
O16 - DPF: {F72BC3F0-6C20-4793-9DDA-258589D8A907} - http://akamai.downloadv3.com/binaries/IA/n...slv32_EN_XP.cab
O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - (no file)

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
YES and exit Hijackthis

Go to START>>Run>>type in %temp%
and hit OK
Click EDIT>>>Select All and delete the contents of the temp folder

Open Hoster and click on the "Restore Original Hosts" button

Restart back into Normal Mode

Can you go to this site please
Give the link time to load
http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/
Use the Browse button at the top of that links page and navigate to this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ASWLSVC.exe <--this file, notice the spelling
Right click on it and Select it
Use the Submit button on the site
Wait for the scan results and post them back here

Could you also open Ad-Aware and click on DETAILS
Let me know Reference No. and Internal build

Also Post back with a fresh hijackthis log
