abit motherboard and amd 2900 TD combo
« on: July 20, 2005, 01:05:53 PM »
I have been reading several posts here about issus with this ABIT board and an AMD 2900XP cpu.  It came as a bundle from tigerdirect.

I upgraded my son's machine about 3 weeks ago with this package.  Untill last nite it worked fine.  Last nite however, it started making the beeping error noises and shutting down.

I toyed with the bios and checked the heatsink and fan thinking it was a heating issue.

The machine did reboot after a while ( I figured because it was cooled down) and worked fine for the remainder of the evening and this morning, but then it started again.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem that will fix it once and for all?

regards

Well, the XP line is known for being a little hot...so maybe it is a heat issue. Either that, or a broken chip.

What are your temps?

Use "everest home edition" (google it) and check out the temps.
