Infected winlogon.exe? Icannnews related

Somewhere in the mix of letting a roommate use my computer I ended up with a load of adware. I'm very careful with my computer, but this is beyond what I've normally dealt with. Originally Norton, Ad-aware, Spy bot search and destroy, HijackThis, Spyware doctor detect nothing. Yes, they are all up to date.

I checked for rootkits with the Micrsoft kit, the Sysinternals kit, and the F-Secure kit and still turned up nothing. Finally I tried Spysweeper and it showed my computer was trying to access www.a-d-w-a-r-e.com and www.ad-w-a-r-e.com. It also found an icannnews related file. I did some digging and found that winlogon.exe was the culprit, but I'm not sure how to go about removing the problem from here since winlogon.exe is involved and I know nothing about its normal workings.

If I allow winlogon.exe to access the internet, firefox and msie will start redirecting to all sorts of different sites and displaying popups as well.

Here is my hijackthis log. After disabling winlogon.exe from being able to access the internet my computer did a hard physical dump, which you can see part of in the log at the line reading "O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k"

I used Locate.com and did a compare of my system and have attached that after the HijackThis log. And I'll guess I should delete the two files it found, but I don't want to proceed without some verification of all this.

And since Winlogon.exe seems to be involved, I've attached a list of .dlls it has loaded.

Download L2mfix from here

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

Run L2MFix again with these instructions
Close any open programs running in the background, this step requires a reboot

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log

 If the L2MFix doesn't run after the restart, then go into the L2M fix folder and double click on second.bat to run it.


Back in Windows, post a fresh hijackthis log and the log from L2MFix

That's looking good, but I would still run the following for cleanup

==Download and Install this small program
to help clean your temp folders,cookies, etc...
Windows Cleanup! 4.0
Don't run it yet

==Download and then Install
Ewido Security Suite

When installing, under "Additional Options" Uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".

From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link after you have Ewido installed
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/

Please  save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop for reference
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads, or use the link I supplied for a more detailed explanation

==Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

    * Empty Recycle Bins
    * Delete Cookies
    * Delete Prefetch files
    * Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
When it's done, decline to log off or restart the computer

==Open Ewido Security Suite
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
  *1. Perform Action = Remove
  *2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
  *3. Perform action with all infections
  Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido

Reboot back to Normal mode

Post one last hijackthis log and the report from Ewidos'

Sorry for the delay in response.

Since I got this horrid little piece of software lodged in the depths of my computer, my computer has been doing system dumps. And it continued even after I finished all the steps you request, so I reformatted.

I genuinely appreciated the help, though.
