Desktop backround has been Hijacked by desktop.htm

I have run into a machine that I cleaned up by running several spyware and adware removal tools but I cannot get the desktop backround to show up.

The desktop backround is flashing white and beige.  I have found that there is
a file in the windows directory called DESKTOP.HTML.

How the hell do you fix this problem.

Hi Ted, can you try this please

This is for XP
Right click an empty spot on the desktop
Left click Properties
Open the Desktop tab
Click Customize desktop
Click the Web tab
Uncheck anything under Web Pages
and Uncheck Lock desktop items if checked

How does that work for you

If you would like to see if you are totally clean of spyware and malware
Would you please download Hijackthis---Important---Create a permanent folder hijackthis
EG---- Click 'My Computer', then C:\
In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to HJT
You should now have C:\HJT
---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important
