I'm having trouble accessing the fix for this one, but we'll work around it
Can you do the following please
==Download and save WinPFind.zip
UNZIP the contents to your desktop
Don't run it yet

RESTART your Computer into SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Choose Safe mode from the startup menu and hit Enter

In safe mode
Open the WinPFind folder you extracted to desktop
Double click on WinPFind.exe
Click START SCAN
This could take some time as it will scan your drive
Close out after

Reboot back to Normal mode

Back in Windows
Post the results of the WindPFind.txt located in the WinPFind folder

Can I have you run this tool also please
I had trouble finding it earlier, the link is broken
I'll upload it for you

From below can you Download and save to your desktop
MsnVirRem.zip
Once in place, right click the zip file and extract the files to your desktop. It will create another folder called MsnVirRem DO NOT RUN ANYTHING IN IT YET

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list).  In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

In the new MsnVirRem folder, that you should have on your desktop, double click MsnVir.bat and let it run its course. A DOS window should pop up, Let it run until it disappears. It will take time to scan your machine.
After it disappears, reboot back into normal mode, and post a fresh HijackThis Log.

« Reply #5 on: February 28, 2006, 12:16:29 AM »
Can we do a bit more cleanup please
I wanted you to run MsnVirRem first, but had no access to the fix at the time

==Download and Install
Windows Cleanup! 4.0

==Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

    * Empty Recycle Bins
    * Delete Cookies
    * Delete Prefetch files
    * Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
When it's done, decline to log off or restart the computer

==Download and then Install
Ewido Anti-malware 3.5

Open Ewido
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link after you have Ewido installed
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/

==Open Ewido anti-malware
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
  *1. Perform Action = Remove
  *2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
  *3. Perform action with all infections
    Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido
NOTE: When Ewido is running, don't open any other Windows, let it finish please

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

F3 - REG:win.ini: load=C:\WINDOWS\system32\vpazexrx\csrss.exe
F3 - REG:win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\system32\vpazexrx\csrss.exe

O16 - DPF: {8FCDF9D9-A28B-480F-8C3D-581F119A8AB8} (MediaGatewayX) - http://static.zangocash.com/cab/Zango/ie/bridge-c18.cab

After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer

Back in windows
Delete this folder if found
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vpazexrx <-folder

Can you post back the following please
1. Post a fresh hijackthis log
2. Post the whole report from Ewido's
3. Can you run WPFind again and post the log please, you can run it in normal mode
But after you start the scan, DO NOT open or close any other windows, wait for the log to open please

Some registry entries are still altered

You did UNZIP(Extract)
MsnVirRem.zip, didn't you?
Don't try and run it within the zip file, make sure you extracted it too desktop

Here's the instructions again after you downloaded MsnVirRem.zip
Once in place, right click the zip file and extract the files to your desktop. It will create another folder called MsnVirRem
DO NOT RUN ANYTHING IN IT YET

I want to make sure that Ewido's realtime protections are interfering
Ewido:
    * Right-click the system tray icon and uncheck real time protection.

      or From within Ewido -
    * Under 'Your security status', if the real time protection is active, deactivate it by clicking 'real time protection' until the status says 'inactive'.

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://dumeter.org

After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.
Log in with the same user account your in right now

In the new MsnVirRem folder, that you should have on your desktop, double click MsnVir.bat and let it run its course. A DOS window should pop up, Let it run until it disappears. It will take time to scan your machine.
After it disappears

Could you run WPFind again
Reboot back to normal mode

Post the new log from WPFind and a new hijackthis log

I am having this same problem, with msn and its been sending everyone in my msn a link with their email address and its autmatically changing the home page in our internet explorer. I read through all of the previous postings, but I'm not quite sure where I have to start.  I've never had a problem like this before so I'm not very sure of the procedures required to fix this problem,  please help
