I am trying to build my own PC, and I am getting very frustrated. Evertime I plug in my power supply, it won\'t work. I can get power when the power supply is only half-way plugged in to my motherboard. I\'ve tried 3 different power supplies with as many different motherboards. Please help me..

Is the power button hooked up to the motherboard?  Newer power supplies won\'t power up until a power button is pressed, which is attached to the motherboard.  If your power supply has a switch on it make sure it\'s on else the power switch on the mobo will do no good.  If it doesn\'t have a power switch, then basically it\'s always on (again, just press the power switch that\'s connected to the mobo).  Once you\'re familiar with how this works, you can find where the power switch hooks up to the mobo and simply short the two prongs with a screwdriver (does the same thing as the power button...it completes the circuit momentarily...just put the screwdriver on the connectors for half a second then remove).

If this makes no sense...just hook everything up.  Don\'t try the power supply by itself until you have all the wires plugged into the mobo (bunch of little ones...for the case speaker, power button, hard drive led, power led, etc.).

No, I can\'t hook the power Button up to the motherboard, because for some strange reason the connections on my board don\'t line up with the power button connections. OK, let me say this right: The power button wire has space for three prongs with an open space in the middle, but on my MB, it\'s only supposed to have two.
Maybe I\'ll try the screwdriver approach. Thank you very much.

I tried the screwdriver thing and that didn\'t work. I think maybe my computer just doesn\'t like me.

Run the screwdriver over all of the plugs, some motherboards are mislabled.  It should be 2 pins side by side.
