From my signature below
Download and save too a permanent folder of it's own on your harddrive
Hijackthis 1.99.1

Open Hijackthis.exe
Do a SCAN and Save a Log file---
A log will open in Notepad
Copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Can you do the following please
I would like to see 2 logs from you then we'll run some fixes on this computer

Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section>>Open Uninstall Manager
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list too desktop then copy and paste back here the whole contents

Also,
Please Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the contents (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

==Download and install Windows CleanUp! 4.5.1
Don't run this yet

==Download and then Install
Ewido anti-malware 3.5

When installing, under "Additional Options" UNCHECK

    "Install background guard"
     "Install scan via context menu".
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the auto updater won't work
Please manually update from this link
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/

Please save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop for reference
or Print them out!

Access your add/remove programs and remove
New.net Domains 7.22
If add/remove programs won't work, visit the following link
http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html
Use Procedure 4, save the uninstaller to desktop and run it from there

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Choose Safe mode from the startup menu
In safe mode

==Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

    * Empty Recycle Bins
    * Delete Cookies
    * Delete Prefetch files
    * Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
NOTE: When you first run cleanup, it may prompt to run in demo mode, decline it as we want to run the actual cleanup on your computer
When it's done>>Click Close
DECLINE to Log off or Restart the computer

=Open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process.  A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process
I'll need to see these later, by default they are also saved at C:\rapport.txt

If a reboot was required, reboot back to safe mode
If it wasn't required, remain in safe mode

==Open Ewido Anti-malware
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
  *1. Perform Action = Remove
*2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
*3. Perform action with all infections
  Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to the desktop or someplace you will remember
Exit Ewido
NOTE: When Ewido is running, don't open any other windows, let it run uninterrupted

Reboot back to Normal mode
1. Run a Scan and save logfile with Hijackthis and post a fresh log
2. Post the whole report from Ewidos'
3. Can you also post the log from Smitfraudfix, located here>>C:\Rapport.txt

ok, two things first:
when i wanted to clean the registry with smitfraudfix, i did what you said, but then i got an error saying that c:\windows\(...etc.)\regedit.com is not a valid command. also, when i entered regedit in start>run windows couldn't find it.
so i searched a bit on my pc and i discovered that regedit, is in the folder C:\WINDOWS\I386
i don't think they belong there... (think the worm did that) so because of that i don't think the registry is cleaned...

second:

ewido found 19.028 infected files (o.O) (in about 3 hours :/), mostly in the folders C:\documents and settings\(user name)\complete (never saw that folder before and there was crap in it with names of games i don't own and all sorts of other things). but they were mostly .zip files so ewido asked with practically every file if i wanted to delete the whole archive. that was going to take a long time so i wanted to delete them manually. i could not find the folder with windows explorer, not even when i had "show all files" on.
but when i entered the name of the folder in the address bar, windows found it after a little while of searching.
i selected all and deleted them with shift+delete (hope that's good too...)

before you helped me, taskmanager wouldn't start when i hit ctrl+alt+delete, that is fixed now.
also, limewire doesn't keep starting anymore.
the only thing not fixed is that when i use start>run and enter "regedit", windows still can't find it (although i can ^^)

ok, now the log files, (warning, the ewido log is very loooooooong :/)

when i wanted to clean the registry with smitfraudfix, i did what you said, but then i got an error saying that c:\windows\(...etc.)\regedit.com is not a valid command. also, when i entered regedit in start>run windows couldn't find it.

The above is my fault, I totally forgot to have you clean another infection before running Smitfraudfix

Can you do the following please

Please download Brute Force Uninstaller to your desktop. (rightclick on this link and choose save as, if using IE save target as)
  • Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
  • Click "Next"
  • In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
  • Click "Browse"
  • Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
  • Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
  • Click "Make New Folder"
  • Type in BFU
  • Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".
RIGHT CLICK HERE
and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download  Alcanshorty.bfu.
Save it in the folder you made earlier (C:\BFU)
So you now have C:\Bfu\alcanshorty.bfu

Reboot back into safe mode

=Open the C:\BFU folder
Double click to run BFU.exe
Use the "Open Script file" button (the folder icon next to Scriptfile to execute)
Navigate to alcanshorty.bfu in the C:\BFU folder
Right click alcanshorty.bfu and choose Select
In Brute Force Uninstaller select Execute
Wait for the "complete script execution" box to pop up and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

Again, do the following please
==Open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd

Reboot back to Normal mode

Post back a fresh hijackthis log and the report again from Smitfraudfix

Can you Attach the Ewido log?

Actually, can you do the following instead

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O2 - BHO: Eigenstart - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-8FA9-FE78A79BBF3A} -
C:\PROGRA~1\EIGENS~1\EIGENS~1.DLL (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: Eigenstart - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-8FA9-FE78A79BBF3A} -
C:\PROGRA~1\EIGENS~1\EIGENS~1.DLL (file missing)

After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Since I forgot to have you run alcanshorty earlier
Can you check for updates with Ewido again and run a complete scan

Save the new log and post it here
If the next log is too big I'll PM you my addy  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

You can run Ewido in normal mode windows
But let it run uninterrupted please

When Ewido is done and you have the new log saved
Reboot the computer

Back in Windows
Post the new Ewido report and a fresh hijackthis log
Again, I remind you, before copying the log from hijackthis in the notepad file that opens
Click on Format>>Uncheck Word Wrap

Do you know what folder or file that Ewido is crashing on?
When you say you installed it again, did you completely uninstall it first?

If not, do that now, after you have it uninstalled
REBOOT the computer

Back in Windows
Delete this folder
C:\Program Files\ewido <-this folder

Then try the reinstall of Ewido
Check for updates, run a scan
Keep note of where it crashes if it does

Looks good
If everything is running better
We should flush all your restore points to ensure you don't restore any nasties that may be sitting idle
Go to START>>RUN>>In the open field
    Type in
msconfig
Click OK
Click the "Launch System Restore" button
On the Left hand side click on "System Restore Settings"
Put a Check in "Turn off System Restore"
Apply it and OK out of there>>Reboot your computer
Back in Windows, Go back and take the check out of "Turn off system restore"
This will reenable the System Restore feature and creates a new restore point
Protect yourself against Future Attacks
*Install  SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 by JavaCool
    *Will block bad ActiveX Controls
*Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
*Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer
After installation, Check for updates and then click the "Enable all protection"
"Check for updates every couple of weeks"
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"

*Keep up to date on Windows updates (High Priorities)
This is the most important step in keeping your system secure
Make sure you check for updates at least once a month!

*Make sure your Anti-Virus software is always kept up to date and actively running in the background

*Keep your Firewall protection enabled
A Firewall is also very important
This provides a line of defense against someone who might try to access your computer without your permission

Update and do scan's with your Anti-Spyware programs on a regular basis
In addition to Ad-Aware, you should also have the following
Spybot 1.4, can be downloaded from
HERE
 or HERE

After installation--Click the UPDATE button on the left
SEARCH FOR UPDATES on the right
Check, and download all updates
Click the Search & Destroy button on the left
Check for Problems---When the Scan is complete
FIX all selected promblems in RED
Reboot if any red entries were found and fixed

Click the "Immunize" button on the left>>>OK at the prompt>>Immunzine at the top green cross
Immunize after every update

+You may choose to hold onto CleanUp! and Ewido
Ewido will become a limited free version after a couple of weeks
Still, a great scanner to update and run on a monthly basis

+Be careful of what you download with your filesharing programs
right click on any downloaded file and scan with your AV before opening it!
