I've been having trouble with this supposed trojan. Normally Norton detects it once the computer boots up. It is supposedly deleted by norton. I will usually restart in safe mode and do a scan to confirm. Everything shows up clean. The problem is that Norton appears to detect and delete it every 7-14 days. This trojan is characterized by its ability to hook up to some remote site and download additional threats to the computer. So I am convinced that something is on my computer that is continually instructing the computer to remotely connect and d/l these files. Since these instances, about 50% of the time I shut down it takes about 2-3 minutes , making it appear like the computer froze. Contemporaneously with these lengthy shutdowns I'll get a strange message from one of the norton component files saying that memory ABC ##### could not be not be read at ABC#####. I spent money seeking the assistance of a Norton technician. And just to let you all know, they are worthless. They just have you d/l some random tools on your computer and execute them and tell you the problem is solved.
Each time Norton has detected the trojan, it has a differnt file name with no coherent meaning (i.e. xkknvysl.exe). I try to find these files manually in the system32 folder and since I can't find them, I'm certain Norton has deleted that instance. The problem however has been increasingly worse. Lately Norton is detecting things like MySql.....<something>, hacktool.rootkit, etc. Norton also deletes those, however, the hacktool.rootkit was a special instance where I booted up my computer one day and Norton warned that a full system scan had never been done and that my virus definition files were outdated. This was quite shady considering I had already scanned that week and I check for definition files everyday. Once I d/l the files and ran a scan, that's when hacktool.rootkit was detected. Norton said it deleted it, however I ran Adaware immediately after the Norton scan and detected something described along the lines of hijack. These symptoms lead me to believe that there is something strange on my computer running hidden.
